To build a world that works for everyone, we need to advocate for sustainable, responsible management of our common resources.
Access to water is vital to personal, agricultural and industrial needs. Electrical power is another critical element in that equation, leading us to ask such questions as: if public utilities are really serving the public interest, what incentives are provided for renewable energy, and how do tax dollars support the process of serving our needs? Water, agriculture, energy resources are thoroughly interdependent, comprising an essential foundation for human culture.
There are a plethora of other local issues that contribute to a strong society. Who is on your local school board, and what kind of curriculum are they implementing in your public schools? What about your local library and parks? What is the quality and level of access to health care? We should be asking ourselves if these systems, and others, are supported and maintained in a manner that serves everyone in our community.
These are the “Commons”.
We are building a coalition of concerned citizens who will work to ensure their long-term viability. The same people who benefit from the Commons are the ones to manage and protect them.
Our mission is to help YOU advocate for policies and laws that will work for everyone long term. We will assist with research, coalition building and effective lobbying.
